1921 Yankees Full Ticket
This is a highly collectible unused ticket to a game scheduled for August 3, 1921 between the Yankees and Tigers at the Polo Grounds. The ticket is complete with the rain check, and bears the name of club owner Jacob Ruppert. This was pasted into a scrapbook for many years. The back bears glue stains, but the front is gorgeous, as you can see. We paid $75 for this item 12 years ago. We’ll take a loss to find it a more deserving home.

This is a nice copy of the 1935 Sporting News Baseball Record Book. It features Dizzy Dean on the front and Lou gehrig on the back. Jam-packed with stats and some fun baseball ads. The cover is a little rough, but the overall condition is nice—everything is still tight.

A rare and extremely unusual baseball item from a dinner thrown in John McGraw’s honor at the Hotel Venice in Florida on March 12, 1927. The occasion was McGraw’s 25th anniversary as New York Giants manager. The menu has a heavy vertical crease. What did Hall of Famers eat in 1927? Filet of Pompano and Guinea Hen were served as the main course, with Crabmeat Cocktail for openers.

Bob Cousy Boston Garden Tribute Program
This souvenir program, packed with testimonials to Cousy and photos of the NBA legend, was distributed on April 27th and 28th of 1963 at his Boston Garden farewell. It has a few creases around the edges but in general is clean and in nice condition. The front cover features a cool montage of Cousy’s behind-the-back dribble, while the back has a brilliant color Jantzen bathing suit ad with Cousy seated on a surf board being carried by Paul Hornung, Frank Gifford and Ken Venturi—we kid you not!

A wonderful piece of basketball memorabilia, this 80-page books was printed on heavy coated stock and sold for a buck at Boston Garden. It picture Dave Cowens snagging a rebound while John Havlicek and Wilt Chamberlain look on. The cover actually folds out to a wide-angle shot that includes Jo Jo White and a couple of others. Features detailed stats for every Celtic to that time, as well as a page on rookie Paul Westphal.

This program was sold at the garden during a special 3/17/71 ABA doubleheader that featured the Nets vs. Kentucky Colonels and Utah Stars vs. Miami Floridians. The cover depicts Sonny Dove driving for two as Levern Tart looks on. Dove and guard Bill Melchionni are profiled in this program, which also includes info and pictures of all the team members, including Rick Barry, who was in his first year with the club., and rookie Billy Paultz. Other names from the doubleheader include ABA immortals Dan Issel, Louie Dampier, Ron Boone, Willie Wise and Mack Calvin.

This one, dated 10/25/37 features a stunning shot of Duke football coach Wallace Wade against a row of green lockers, holding a football. Issued during the 1971-72 season, this set of NHL Action Players sells for $300+ dollars if you can find it. This is the 5 x 7 Stan Mikita, with a facsimile signature at the bottom and a real one over the photo. A nice piece for Black Hawks fans. A lot of collectors saved these in binders that were sold by the Sun, so there are holes punched along the edge, but they do not detract from the beauty or frame-ability of this piece.

1965 NASCAR Book
Written by Bill France and Bloys Britt, this 86-page souvenir book features a history of stock car racing and NASCAR (it was not even 20 years old at the time), along with action photos and information of the major venues. There are 21 full-page driver profiles, including one on African-American legend Wendell Scott, which is interesting considering he is often portrayed as a NASCAR “outsider.” Richard Petty has a page, and he looks about 12 years old in his photo!

1927 Penn Relays Ticket
A ticket from the 1927 Penn Relays, dated April 30 at Franklin Field. The 100-Yard Dash finals were held on this day. Please note that there is some paper loss on the back of the ticket, but it’s still a marvelous piece of history. Anyone know George Steinbrenner? His dad won the 120-yard hurdles at the relays in 1927!

1929 Art Deco Chicago Tribune Sports Almanac
A remarkable 300+ page book published by the Chicago Tribune in 1929, this sports almanac, edited by Trib sports guru Don “Speaking of Sports” Maxwell, is printed on good-quality paper and features stories and stats from every sport. Full-page photos include Bobby Jones, Johnny Weissmuller, Gene Tunney, Helen Wills, Rene LaCoste, Bill Tilden and Rabbit Maranville. But it’s the classic Art Deco cover that makes this book a winner.

Univ. of Vermont Fencing Tobacco Premium
Back at the turn of the century, tobacco companies used to include miniature rugs in their cigarette and cigar boxes. Dad would buy the box, and give his daughter the rug for her doll house. This rug was obviously meant to appeal to men with boys, as it depicts a fencer for the University of Vermont. It is in wonderful condition and, for the collector who appreciates extra bang for the buck, it bears the mark of the cigarette brand on the back: Egyptienne Straights. Could be a salesman’s sample.
